Numbering six-strong, the Balbriggan / Skerries band The Notas are the latest in the new generation of bands who are just getting on with the business of making good music and it shows on their debut song ‘Lights Fade Away’, the lead-track on their freely released See You When The Sun’s Out EP. The song showcases an accomplished arrangement with spatial guitar lines, harmonies and a bedrock of subtle bass and drums. They’ve been compared to dance-indie heavyweights Foals but I hear much more of the “heavy pop” styles of Wu Lyf in them, albeit distinctly more positive.
The See You When The Sun’s Out EP was recorded with Dave McCune after they won a battle of the bands (bless). The band are Maurice Hans (Vocals), Princess Siwela (Drums/Percussion), Paul Morgan (Guitar), Ali Sultan (Guitar), Alice Jacquier (Bass) and Kain Devine (Synthesizer).
