Johnny Marr is having an Irish summer.
Along with gigs at Sea Sessions, his family hometown of Athy and King John’s Castle in Limerick, the ex-Smiths guitarist has been announced for an in conversation event at the National Concert Hall on Wednesday June 26th.
The event is to coincide with the publication of Marr’s Guitars, his book about his guitars and experiences in music and songwriting.
Marr’s Guitars features personal reflections and insights written by Johnny Marr, a foreword written by Hans Zimmer and photographs shot by Pat Graham. The book also features contributions from Noel Gallagher, Bernard Butler and Ed O’Brien.
Marr will be in conversation with Phil Taggart, creator of ChillDaBeats and Slacker podcasts who spent 10 years at BBC Radio 1.
Signed book and ticket bundles for Johnny Marr In Conversation With Phil Taggart are on sale from 25th April, at 10am.
Marr’s Guitars offer a unique cultural history of modern music through Johnny Marr’s collection of guitars. Some were passed to him by other revered musicians and collaborators – Nile Rogers’ Stratocaster, Bryan Ferry’s Roxy Music Hagstrom and Bert Jansch’s acoustic; and some he has passed to others, such as the Stratocaster used by Noel Gallagher on Wonderwall and the Gibson Les Paul used on In Rainbows by Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien.
