Listen: Dubliner Zach James Douglas’ debut single ‘Something / Anything’ featuring Kintsuku

Avatar

Zach James Douglas is an artist that has worked in music on and off stages for the last few years. You may know Douglas from his role in Little One, a band we featured here in the past.

With his solo material, the Tallaght native is leaning into a more electronic style of production.

‘Something / Anything’ featuring Chvrches-esque vocals from Manchester artist Kintsuku over a textured glitzy beat.

It’s a sweetly-pitched song on the surface but it’s actually informed by Douglas’ difficult recent relationship….

I concede, there must be something,
anything better than this,
as the angst opens the void,
we fake to form this halting bliss,
this reprieve, it must lead to something, anything better than this,
I’ve exhausted futile care,
to be undone and cut adrift.

“Something/Anything deals with the bitterness and the anger that began to engulf mine and my Ex’s relationship, as she struggled to come to terms with her own personal demons and issues at home. It documents how my role in her life began to change from one of positivity, comfort and reliability, to the new position of the perpetual scapegoat.”

‘Something / Anything’ released everywhere April 28th on ZJD Records via Faction Records.

Pre-save the song.
