Frank, the new Lenny Abrahamson film (Adam & Paul, What Richard Did), inspired by the eccentric cult character Frank Sidebottom is a comedy about a young aspirational musician (Domhnall Gleeson) who joins an avant-garde pop band lead by the enigmatic weirdo Frank (Michael Fassbender) alongside Clara (Maggie Gyllenhaal).
The actors =that appear in the film, rounded out by Carla Azar (Autolux, Jack White) and François Civil, both genuine musicians, also play the songs, written by Stephen Rennicks, for real. So that really is Fassbender singing on the track below ‘I Love You All’, from the Frank soundtrack. He sounds a bit like Neil Hannon actually.
Frank is on general release in cinemas on May 9th.
