The Hennessy Hip-Hop House is coming to Body & Soul Festival at Ballinlough Castle, in Westmeath, this June 16th to 18th.

The festival has an extensive lineup of hip-hop and adjacent acts to coincide with 50 years of hip-hop celebrations, and as you are no doubt well aware, Hennessy has been often cited in rap lyrics, and in turn, the brand has championed the music and culture of hip-hop.

The Hennessy Hip-Hop House will celebrate that connection with a full lineup of curated acts playing Body & Soul, on the Hennessy Music Trail and The Hennessy Hip-Hop House, serving up the best in cultural expression and creative cocktails in tandem, a signature blend.

Denise Chaila, Gemma Dunleavy, Kojaque, Fabio & Grooverider and The Outlook Orchestra (A/V Show) are among the headliners for the Hennessy Music Trail and The Hennessy Hip-Hop House.

Massive Attack’s Daddy G, Nightmares on Wax and American house and funk DJ Tee Cardaci are among the international acts playing, while Irish hip-hop-rooted artists JyellowL, Strange Boy, God Knows, MuRli, Bon Voyage, Sweetlemondae and DJs Handsome Paddy, Mango, Aoife Ni Canna, Stevie G Soundsystem,  DJ Flip and RíRá are pulling up to Ballinlough.

We already talked to both Celaviedmai and Nealo about their connections with the hip-hop and the community and they are both playing this year.

There is also a strand of conversations and panel discussions about the culture of hip-hop from emerging Irish voices with District Presents: The Future of Irish Music, graffiti from Rask & Sums (TdaKlann) and breakdance from Northern Soles Crew.

There’s also Hip Hop Karaoke  in the afternoon, while Arveene hosts The Story of Irish Hip Hop with guests such as Kojaque, Glen Brady and Rask.

So here’s our Spotify Playlist of acts to check out at the festival, through the lens of the Hennessy Hip-Hop celebrations.
