1.
Nu Genea – Gelbi (feat. Marzouk Mejri)
This song has been on repeat. I think Nu Genea hit the spot by merging their heritage with North Africa and creating a gem of a track.
The lyrics almost sounds like a love song but seems like a much deeper song about a shared Mediterranean heritage. It’s an essential record that has seen more than one press. Don’t sleep on this one.
2.
Bedouin Burger – Zamel
Another amazing release from Bedouin Burger. The duo Zeid Hamdan and Lynn Adib made this one hit hard. The mix of traditional with modern elements is superb. They are an act I am dying to see live, and Zeid Hamdan and Lynn Adib are artists I’d love to work with.
3.
Capinera – Il Volo
This is a sick release from Periodica Records that flew off the shelves, a super catchy Napolese reggae track.
Capinera consists of Gianpaolo Della Noce and vocalist Adriana Salomone. It will have you hooked from the very beginning This is a Hang Dai type track.
4.
Surusinghe – Go To
Surusinghe landed this explosive debut. The entire EP is fire. The way she bridges her heritage with “Go To” is phenomenal, and the production will have you jaw dropped at every section of the song. It’s full of rhythm, percussion, and mouth-watering bass.
5.
Master Phil – Vagabon du coeur
I think this doesn’t need an introduction. French Boogie, euro pop reissue from 1984 using his Yamaha DX7. There is also a sick Jex Opolis remix that is also massive.
6.
Toumba – Multipack of Limes
I’ve always been a fan of Toumba. He has been making waves. I am extremely proud of him as he has been working hard on his sound over the last couple of years and this one for me, is the one. ‘Multipack of Limes’ will have you pucker faced all the way through. Highly recommended.
7.
Warchieff – Dance With Us
Mohammed Alhamdan, known as Warchieff, has a few tricks up his sleeves, and music production is only a small snippet of what he can do!.I have to say this song has a very classy tone to it. Warchieff bridges elements from Saudi traditional maqam leads with western disco, and if that’s not enough he brings the entire track to a close with a jazzy solo. Wonderful work really!
8.
Cheb Runner – Robotic Love
If there is someone I’ve always been a fan of it’s Cheb Runner. He is a sick producer, and every time he drops a new EP, it’s flames. ‘Robotic Love’ gives nods to Belgian New Beat and Rai. His signature and style are now a must-have in my record bag or USB.
9.
Utility – Flooot (DJ Plead Rework)
DJ Plead never disappoints. This rework has a more melancholic vibe compared to his other releases. I do love it when he drops these types of remixes, and this reminds me of the ‘Massari for Relief’ remix he did back in 2020.
10.
Kit Sebastian – Sinanay
Kit Sebastian is a duo formed in London by Kit Martin and Merve Erdem, spread between Turkey and France. They beautifully flipped Sezen Aksu’s famous track Şinanay’ into a much more smoother down-tempo track with Brazilian inspired rhythm and lovely jazz lines. This has been on repeat in the car.
