Noosa

Every Friday, I pick out four new music picks from the best of music blogs worldwide as part of my Day & Night digital section. Follow Day & Night on Twitter or Facebook. The magazine is out today in print with every copy of the Irish Independent so pick it up to see my full section as well as the rest of the mag. My picks for the this week are…

Noosa

A positive pop from an NYC duo who mix happy electronic rhythms with sprightly vocals. Debut single ‘Heartbreak’ showcases Sky Barbarick’s playful voice set to some summer-inducing piano chords.

DIANA

Taking time out from his day job in Dan Bejar’s Canadian band Destroyer, Joseph Shabason’s new trio favours the idyllic over the idiosyncratic with music that sounds like ’70s soft-rock-inspired synth jams. A chilled vibe for sure but an extremely pleasant one.

Angel Haze

If you expecting a straight up rap mixtape on the basis of Angel Haze’s public tracks to date ‘New York’ and ‘Werkin Girls’, when you might be surprised to hear that the Reservation mixtape is more pop than those tracks suggested. Like a cross between Nicki Minaj’s bombastic Pink Friday stuff and Drake productions.

Stream or Download the mixtape.

Denver

Members of American indie bands Blitzen Trapper and Alela Diane’s Wild Divine combine in a bar band setup for some country rock steel guitar licking goodness.
