New music: Katy B’s free EP, Liza Flume, Pretty Heart and BenZel
Every Friday, four new music picks culled from the music blog hive mind are published as part of my Day & Night section. The magazine is out in print free with every copy of the Irish Independent on Friday so pick it up. Follow Day & Night on Twitter or Facebook.
Katy B – Danger EP
The flame-haired UK singer released a free four track EP of high quality club tracks featuring collaborations with Jessie Ware, Wiley, Diplo, Iggy Azalea and Jacques Greene. An essential download. Get it here.
Liza Flume
The Aussie-born Dublin-based folk singer’s single ‘What We Called Love’ is a resilient and resolved debut song suggesting a worthy new talent. Look for her five-track EP coming soon.
Pretty Heart
Brooding and moody synthpop is 20 year-old Ohio-born Morgan Holliger’s modus operandi. She gets run over by a car in her first video for O Heart! and makes the Christmas snow her backdrop in her latest clip for Toy.
BenZel
A super smooth electronic slice of digi-funk is on offer from a “Japanese teenage duo” with their single Fallin’ Love. BenZel also recently collaborated with Sade soundalike Jessie Ware so we can safely assume they are from London.
