Other Voices and the Office of Public Works have announced a new run of The Anam Sessions, the digital series that pairs contemporary Irish artists with Ireland’s most storied historic spaces.
Now in its third year (formerly titled Anam), the series visits four remarkable venues: the newly reopened Barryscourt Castle in Co. Cork, Dublin Castle’s Chapel Royal, Emo Court House in Co. Laois, and Áras an Uachtaráin in the Phoenix Park.
The first session is already live on the Other Voices YouTube channel, featuring a solo performance from Joshua Burnside recorded at Barryscourt Castle, following the release of his critically acclaimed album It’s Not Going to be Okay. New sessions will premiere twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, across eight weeks in May and June.
Barryscourt Castle
Barryscourt Castle, Co Cork reopened its doors in April 2025 following extensive conservation works. It is one of Ireland’s most significant medieval tower houses, with deep ties to the powerful Barry family, who dominated the region for centuries. Its well-preserved structure including a striking tower, defensive bawn, and historic gardens offers a rare glimpse into Ireland’s feudal past. The castle played a key role in regional conflicts and stands as a symbol of Norman and Gaelic Irish heritage and is one of Ireland’s finest surviving medieval tower houses.
The lineup includes Other Voices favourite SOAK, BRITs 2026 Critics’ Choice winner Jacob Alon, Dublin legend and songwriter Damien Dempsey, genre-bending songwriter, singer and producer Kean Kavanagh, folk artist Ellie O’Neill, and Tallaght rap sensation Curtisy.
