Sam Smith and Beverly Glenn-Copeland release ‘Ever New’ single for Red Hot TRAИƧA compilation
Red Hot’s new compilation TRAИƧA is an extensive new project features 46 songs across eight chapters with over 100 artists contributing.
TRAИƧA will feature artists like Sade, André 3000, Lauren Auder + Wendy & Lisa, L’Rain, Ezra Furman, Fleet Foxes, Clairo, SOAK, Adrianne Lenker, Perfume Genius, Yaeji, Faye Webster, and many more, and is due out November 22nd. The full list is below.
The project spotlights the gifts of many of the most daring, imaginative trans and non-binary artists working today.
Today, the compilation shares a new version of pioneering electronic trans composer Beverly Glenn-Copeland’s ‘Ever New’ and chart-hit pop artist Sam Smith.
It’s taken from TRAИƧA: Selects, a vinyl & digital release out on Oct 25th featuring selections from the larger project, including songs from Sade, André 3000, Lauren Auder + Wendy & Lisa, L’Rain featuring the NYC Trans Oral History Project, and today’s single from Beverly Glenn-Copeland & Sam Smith.
‘Ever New’ was originally released as the opening track to Beverly Glenn-Copeland’s seminal 1986 album Keyboard Fantasies.
“When I wrote ‘Ever New’ I had no idea it would touch so many hearts over so many decades,” shares Glenn. “I cried last year when a fan wrote to tell me that they played ‘Ever New’ for the birth of their child. Now, this collaboration with the genius that is Sam Smith is actual proof that our lives are, indeed, made ever new.”
“It was a true honour and privilege to be in a room with such a beautiful soul in Glenn to record this legendary and very special song with him,” adds Smith. “It’s a moment in time I will never forget and I am so happy to have been a part of this wonderful project.”
