Stream Gil Scott-Heron’s album here

As I enthused last week I’m New Here is Gil Scott-Heron’s first new album in 16 years and I described it as “a mix of spoken word, futuristic blues, dark-stained socio-political life and poetic ruminations. The man above still sounds as inspired and god-damn urgent as ever.” Amen.

Listen for yourself after the jump.

Who makes these unsightly long widgets?

  1. Looking forward to getting a proper listen to this. Ordered the vinyl from cdwow the other day for €13!

I don’t mean to be promoting cdwow but they have introduced some tasty records at good prices.

  2. The tragedy is that too few people are aware of this colossus and where he stands in the history of America. He eclipses some mighty big people, names like Cash, Parton, Joni. If you get a chance to see him live, see him live.
