Talos releases the ambitious electronic pop of ‘Kansas’; re-releases debut album in US
Corkman Eoin French’s 2017 album Wild Alee was a Nialler9 favourite and Talos are one of the finest new bands from Ireland in the last few years.
Having begun as French’s ambient electronic pop project, the last year and a half or so have seen the live band’s sound grow in number and scope.
Now, with Talos re-releasing Wild Alee in the US in a deluxe format on BMG, we have new material that reflects that growth.
The Then There Was War EP is released in June alongside the album and features four new songs. ‘Kansas’ features on the release and the song feels like a turning point for an already superb band. Layers of synth noise and voice samples combined with French’s falsetto add to majestic track that rivals the sonic scale of Bon Iver’s 22, A Million.

Kansas Lyrics:
Called to the feast I’ll bring the bones,
stay with the skies and I’ll go.
A lung in the sea a heart in the snow,
who leaves when the carnage is cold?
Under the lights our beating is stoned,
Who wages a war in white gold?
Now called to the feast I’ll be the bones,
sign of the beast, I hold.
