De La Soul
Oodles Of O’s
De La Soul’s first six albums are finally on streaming as of today, and while the classic hip-hop debut 3 Feet High and Rising is bound to get the most attention, but I’m throwing it back to the 1991 second album De La Soul Is Dead, and this classic in my listening history. A simple concept – every rhyme ends in the “O” sound hence the title.
2.
Slowthai
Yum
Slowthai’s third album Ugly features production from Dan Carey and guests like Fontaines D.C., Shygirl and Jockstrap’s Taylor Skye. The album’s opening track ‘Yum’ is an abrasive one, a stomper of hedonistic synths and industrial beats, that reminds me of Yeezus, and leaves the sense of a breathless claustrophobia that sets up the record nicely
3.
Youth Lagoon
Idaho Alien
Youth Lagoon lost his voice for 8 months; has returned with his first album in 8 years
4.
TXPE_EATER, Curtisy
Italia90
Part of a double-single with ‘Memphis Tea’ which features Uly, TXPE_EATER and rapper Curtisy team up on the glistening vapourwave beat of ‘Italia90’ from the pair’s forthcoming EP BLCKMGC*, out March 17th.
5.
Conway The Machine, Jae Skeese
Metallic 5’s
Conway The Machine and Jae Skeese have a joint seven-track album out next Friday March 10th called Pain Provided Profit, and ‘Metallic 5’s’ is the loping track two from the record.
6.
Sabrina Bellaouel
Yah
The French-Algerian producer Sabrina Bellaouel’s debut album Al Hadr arrived today and displays a sound that moves between R&B, neo-soul, North African sounds and club dynamics.
I have featured some tracks before, and am loving this atmospheric trap club R&B song that you could hear the likes of Kelela in the vibe.
7.
Moondiver
Dominoes
Moondiver are new Dublin electronic jazz foursome featuring Ryan Hargadon and Dylan Lynch (Soda Blonde) who debuted with ‘Gretchen’ last November.
On their second track ‘Dominoes’ things are moved in a more BadBadNotGood direction, never a bad thing.
The single is getting a launch at the Sugar Club next Friday March 10th with guests Negro Impacto.

8.
Poser
We Can Make It
Adam Kelly comes through with his fourth Poser release featured here. ‘We Can Make It’ is a warm-disco house track with a sample of Willie Hutch’s ‘I Feel Like We Can Make It’. Bit of a French touch vibe here.

9.
Pale Blue
No Words (Perel Remix)
Pale Blue are Mike Simonetti (formerly of Italians Do It Better) and Elizabeth Wight dropped a new EP on Damian Lazarus’ label Crosstown Rebels, and this Perel remix spoke to me.
10.
Gorillaz, Del The Funky Homosapien
Captain Chicken
I found Gorillaz’ Cracker Island to be a rather staid affair, but the deluxe version this week, brings a couple of cool tracks, one featuring De La Soul and Dawn Penn and this bouncy bass one featuring the unique rasp of Del The Funky Homosapien.
