Tradition Now represents a collaborative gig series between The National Concert Hall and the Arts Council. The project aims to provide a platform to some of the most exciting traditionally orientated musicians out there right now and celebrate a rich strain of Irish cultural heritage.
The series returns in 2019 between October 1st-6th. The two main stage events will take place on the 5th & 6th.
Geoff Travis of Rough Trade Records’ River Lea trad branch is stepping up to curate events on Saturday the 5th. That gig will see Lisa O’Neill, Brian and Diarmuid Mac Glóinn and Ye Vagabonds share the bill alongside Skye piper Bríghde Chaimbeul.
The 6th will be headed up by folk artist Sam Amidon. Also taking place that night will be Sounds Like Freedom, a celebration of the struggle for civil rights in Ireland and America. Concertina maestro Niall Vallely performs alongside jazz trio Harriet Tubman, Karen Casey, Úna Monaghan and Aidan O’Rourke.
Another event worth mentioning is Treehouse from 12pm on October 6th. The event is family-friendly music and puppetry performance and promises sing-alongs for kids and adults.
