A new release from Rephlex with all signs pointing to a new release from Richard D James aka AFX / Aphex Twin under the pseudonym The Tuss – an electronic group supposedly consisting of Cornish musicians Brian and Karen Tregaskin. There has been multiple myspace pages, fake songs, denial of authorship and misleading information but clues to AFX’s hand in the releases include the usage of a rare and expensive Yamaha GX1 synth (of which Richard is one of a handful of owners), “Tuss” is Cornish slang for Erection and track one has been recognised by AFX-ophiles as a song he dropped in a live set previously.
Regardless of all these cryptic clues, the EP certainly sounds like a continuation of AFX’s Analord series albeit looser and less sparse. It’s got vintage squelchy synth sounds peppered with cowbell percussion and indecipherable vocodered vocals and is full of AFX trademark sounds. There are so many ideas inherent in each of the 6 tracks that it demands repeated listens. If this is an elaborate hoax, one would hope the true author reveals their identity so we can just enjoy the music and not get distracted by farce.

Ha, Tom at Eclectic Hermit told me on good authority that this was Aphex Twin, he might be upset that you posted it before him, after seeing his copy i was glad that I’ve never bought something with such dissapointing packaging!

The packaging is quite like the smojface ep too.
I’m getting a bit bored of AFX’s current acid excursions, theyre a bit hit and miss. Ceephax is as good if not better, and at least theres not the ‘farce’, as you put it so well.
ps. I havent heard this yet, so I may eat my words.

‘tuss’ is usually used (at least as far as i have encountered) as whats-he-called, wots-his-name, or woscum. Never heard it as erection.

I’ve only got the Confederation Trough EP but those three tracks are some of my favourites by the Twin. Highly recommended whilst on acid.
