Thom Yorke to release Anima – a new album & Paul Thomas Anderson directed short film next week

Luke Sharkey

A prolific soul, Thom Yorke clearly isn’t satisfied to drink tea and watch daytime tv after a year which saw him compose the critically acclaimed score for Suspiria and tour.

Instead, fans are being treated to more new material from the Radiohead frontman. A big yes to that.

Yorke has today announced the forthcoming release of Anima, both a full solo studio LP and a Paul Thomas Anderson directed ‘One Reeler'(short film). The short film is set against three songs from the album. Both it and the album will be released digitally on June 27th. The album heads to Spotify and the usual streaming services while the short will be available on Netflix.

The album, which is reported to be quite Dystopian, has been teased across London via some very Orwellian public projections (Dazed). The artwork and tracklist have also been released.

Hopefully, it’ll be of a similar vibe to the wonderful Suspiria soundtrack – which heard the composer utilising and manipulating classical instrumentation in a modern setting.

The album has come with a European tour announcement, but no word of an Irish date just yet.
