Daniel Luke - Silk (Official Visualiser)

Daniel Luke is a Dublin pianist, multi-instrumentalist and composer who released a debut solo album called Shadow Dance last week, and who comes from the same Smith family stock that gave us Kojaque (Kevin), J Smith (James) and Audible Chocolate (Liam). Luke was a founding member of Gypsies On The Autobahn, which James was also a part of.

Shadow Dance is a collection of neo-classical solo piano pieces, and the video for the song ‘Silk’ features Daniel Luke performing the song in a Dublin train station in a timelapse style.

Watch the video directed, shot and edited by Adam O Regan of Soda Blonde.

Music gives us a rare opportunity to get lost to the rest of the world, to completely tune everything else out. Myself and Adam wanted to capture that feeling of being completely lost in music, while the world around you moves at its own blinding pace. Silk itself has a lot of energy and momentum, but the constant left hand accompaniment gives the piece a meditative and calming character. We wanted to capture both of these elements with the visuals that we created. The constant movement of a busy train station, along with the public pianos that have been placed there (supplied by Murphy’s Piano Tuning and painted by Sarah Edmondson) felt like the perfect place to capture that.”
