Barq debut 'Bear', a song about dealing with loss

Rising Dublin four-piece Barq’s two singles thus far have revealed an alternative live band jazz/R&B vibe.

‘That Thing You Love’ is self-described “agrosoul” while ‘Gentle Kind Of Lies’ was more of a psychedelic soul vibe.

New single ‘Bear’ was written by singer Jess Kav, after her mother passed and deals with loss and growing up. Musically, it’s got a jazz rhythm with Kavanagh’s  moving vocals exploring the aftermath of loss singing “what do we do when the buildings fall?”. The song has a beautiful coda.

The single is launched in The Bowery in Rathmines next Thursday November 17th with support from Soulé.  As it happens, I’m DJing after too.
