Cal Folger Day is an American songwriter who has been based in Dublin for a while now but used to conduct orchestras and host open mic nights in New York’s Lower East Side.
Her recent EP Adornment was featured here.
Folger Day is currently touring an operetta, At the Roots of the Stars, from a 1919 play by Djuna Barnes, in the US and Canada. The project, is an exercise in revivifying underloved women’s work, which she calls Obscurity Pearls.
A new solo song, ‘Rawking Chair’ is inspired by her long-held position as a nanny: and the dichotomy between being part of a family and working for one.
