Carlow Arts Festival's 40th anniversary will feature Max Richter's 8 hour epic 'Sleep' performed in its entirety plus more

The festival takes place between the 4th & 9th of June.

Carlow Arts Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary this year with a host of events taking place at Carlow College from June 4th-9th.

Music wise, Max Richter’s eight hour Sleep will be performed in its entirety for the first time in Ireland. The piece was described by the composer as a “personal lullaby for a frenetic world… a manifesto for a slower pace of existence” and it will be really interesting to see it performed live. Overall the music line-up is strong with acts like Pillow Queens, Kitt Phillipa, Elaine Mai on the bill too.

The full music line-up is:

  • Pillow Queens
  • Elaine Mai
  • Proper Micro NV
  • Bitch Falcon
  • DJ Kormac
  • Sun Collective
  • Cormac Begley & Friends
  • His Father’s Voice
  • Sleep
  • Galway Street Club
  • Chagrall
  • Irish National Opera

The festival is family friendly with theatre, circus and pop-up performances taking place over the weekend. Over 80% of the festival events are free to attend and there are ‘pick your price’ options for others.
