Gig news roundup: Father John Misty, Portico, Guinness Amplify, DELS, Valentine’s gigs, Kerri Chandler…
The man of the moment: Josh Tillman aka Father John Misty just released I Love You, Honeybear , his lovestruck persona-driven album with many lyrical highlights. He’s already playing Whelan’s on February 20th but that sold out very quickly, so he’s just been announced to play Vicar Street on Saturday October 24th. Tickets €25+ on sale from Ticketmaster.

Portico, who were called the Portico Quartet but are no longer four people so that obviously can’t apply (thanks Nick Mulvey, you ruined everything) are back with new music having signed to Ninja Tune. Their new single features Joe Newman of Alt-J and is very impressive. They play Whelan’s on April 20th. Tickets €15+ on sale now from Ticketmastwe and Ticket ABC.
Guinness Amplify’s live events are back this month on Thursday February 26th and Friday February 27th for a series of new Irish music gigs featuring 22 bands who were chosen by the judges (I’m one of those) after the Amplify gigs and the workshops around the country last September. Many of these bands were given time in recording studios over the last three months.

Valentine’s gigs ?
Blind Date Dip is a BYOB Valentines Day Party in a secret venue in the city brought to you by Dip.
Tickets are €15 for it and location is only told to ticket holders 24 hours before. We are told to expect “Boogie, Disco, House and a special Blind Date Slow Set.” Dip made a video and a promo mix to get you in the mood.
Auntie Valentine’s is a collab between Another Love Story and Happenings in The Sugar Club on Friday February 13th with music from Buffalo Woman and DJs Sally Cinnamon, T/A/S/T/E , Danger Dating and more.
White Collar Boy’s social night in the Grand Social gets a load of heartbreakers in on Valentine’s with a free night of DJing with Ships, I Am The Cosmos and the Collar Boys themselves.

Hidden Agenda are bringing the UK rapper/producer DELS over for a gig on Friday March 13th in Whelan’s. Tickets are €12 + on sale from Ticket ABC.
UK dance duo Dusky will return to The Academy on February 27th. Tickets are €18.35 on sale from TM.
The Lost Brothers are playing Unitarian Church on May 8th. Tickets priced €16+ From Ticketmaster next week.
The legendary house DJ Kerri Chandler is coming to District 8 courtesy of Bodytonic and Subject on February 21st for an “all night long” live keys and vox set. Tickets are €20+.
Network #6 have announced their lineup for March 16th and it features Luke Slater, Legowelt, Sleeparchive + Guests at The Grand Social. Advance tickets are cheap now and rising to €20 on the door.
