Dark Mode Light Mode

Intro: Pockets – a new Irish indie band

Pockets are a new four-piece band who describe themselves as “dark folk rock”. The Galway/Dublin band’s songs are written by Sean Leonard and arranged and played Faustina Finnerty (Vocals), Cian Hanley (Drums), Joe Padfield (Bass) with Sean (Guitar).

On evidence of the band’s debut EP Raison d’être, their self-description is a good start. The lead track from the EP, ‘Alone’, is an atmospheric indie track with dramatic drums and sharp guitar notes sounding like they’re trying to engulf Finnerty’s much-sweeter vocals.

The band launch the EP next Wednesday in The Grand Social with support from All The Luck In The World, Beach and Derek Ellard. You’ll be able to get it via Bandcamp.

  1. I don’t think it’s generic. On the contrary, I think it’s weakness might be its avoidance of cliché and innovation. Might be more suited to people who love music than the casual chart-listener.
