It’s been a long time coming but Kelela has been announced for her own headline show in Dublin.
The American R&B artist previously played Forbidden Fruit here a number of years ago, but this is a proper venue show for the artist.
The show happens on August 16th at The Academy in Dublin and ticket presales are active now before general sale on Ticketmaster tomorrow, Friday April 21st.
Kelela appears at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Madrid, Flow Festival in Helsinki, Way Out West in Gothenburg, Lowlands Festival in Belgium, Field Day in London , Paradiso, Amsterdam and New Century Hall in Manchester this June and August.
0Kelela recently released Raven, her long-awaited second album, the followup to 2017’s Take Me Apart. Her music mixes R&B and club atmospherics in a unique way that she’s been doing since she appeared in 2103, with early EP Cut 4 Me (2013) and, subsequently Hallucinogen (2015).
“I started this process from the feeling of isolation and alienation I’ve always had as a black femme in dance music, despite its black origins. RAVEN is my first breath taken in the dark, an affirmation of black femme perspective in the midst of systemic erasure and the sound of our vulnerability turned to power.”
