Knockanstockan is a local festival that has grown in reputation in the last few years and 2013 sees it back for its seventh year in Blessington, Wicklow from July 26th – 28th.
The festival are promising 150 bands for the festival some of which include:
The Eskies, Ross Breen, The Hot Sprockets, John Blek & The Rats, King Kong Company, The FitzaFrenic, Earthship, Niwel Tsumbu, Cocaine Ponytail, Blind Yackety, Veroa, Sinead White, Corner Boy, Rocher, Sarah Red, The Rusty Fixtures, Quincy, Val Normal, The Radioactive Grandma, Tandem Felix, Redwoods, Land of the Giants (UK), Liza Flume, The City Apples, Tic Til Friday, Conor Linnie, Crow Black Chicken, Raglans, Arrow in the Sky, Rufus Coates & The Blackened Trees, Niamh Regan, Indecent Cigar Emporium, Saucy Jack & The Bang Bang Band, New Valley Wolves, Punch Face Champions, Hassle Merchants, She’s A Beauty, Wyvern Lingo, Fox. E & The Good Hands, Those Creeps, Mikey & The Scallywags, Stephen Young & The Union, The Gorgeous Colours, New Secret Weapon, Tod Doyle & The Troubled, Markas Carcas.
Knockanstockan prides itself on its independent stance and that is evident on the lineup, the majority of which doesn’t come on my radar often with the exception of Liza Flume, Gorgeous Colours, Hot Sprockets, Niwel Tsumbu, Raglans, Hassle Merchants and Rufus Coates & The Blackened Trees, who I was impressed by at Other Voices Derry. In general, I’ve heard more about the vibe at Knockanstockan than the music myself.
Tickets are on sale now at €75 at an early bird price before rising to €95. Get tickets via knockanstockan.ie. Here’s a look at the festival in video form:
