He’s the guy who brought you ‘NCAD Girl’ but a man cannot exist on novelty hits about art college students forever so Ross Fortune aka Benny Smiles has put together his first formal release, the Sunshine / Moonlight EP.

The EP features four very different songs, you may know ‘Sunday Morning’, the jaunty Adebisi Shank-esque instrumental from our Podcast, but there’s also the dreamy chillwave intro ‘Sunshine’, ‘Not So Far’ which samples 1900 Mississippi slave field recordings and quirky highlight ‘Moonlight’ featuring the vocal talents of Ham Sandwich singer Niamh Farrell and instrumentation sourced from ripped strips of paper (Solar Bears’ Rian Trench engineered the track). Watch the video for that song by Marc Corrigan:

Fortune has put together a live band featuring Come On Live Long‘s Louise Gaffney, Soundblob blogger Robert McComish and John Rooney and show are happening this weekend at Castlepalooza and the EP launch on August 23rd in the Workman’s Club.
