Here’s a rundown of new releases on DSPs and physical releases in record shops this week.


New Albums


Slowthai – Ugly

Third album from Northampton rapper brings together rap, rock, indie and punk more readily to his sound with guests Fontaines D.C., Ethan P. Flynn, Shygirl, Jockstrap’s Taylor Skye, Beabadoobee guitarist Jacob Bugden, drummer Liam Toon. Album opener ‘Yum’ is a STONKER.


Kali Uchis – Red Moon In Venus

Third album from the Lation pop artist receives an 8.2 from P4k today. ‘Moonlight’


c o m t e  – Petra’s Stone

Goodtime John’s other alias’ new release, features “eight delicately restrained downtempo pieces.. built around field recordings that c o m t e has collected over the last few years in Sweden, Italy and Ireland. Bandcamp.


Gareth Quinn Redmond – Ai Air Aris

The Irish ambient musician’s new one on Swiss label WRWTFWW Records features “8 deliciously warbling tape loops and a very rare kind of daydreaming environmental music full of accidental miracles and dusty soothing backdrops.” Bandcamp.


Xiu Xiu – Ignore Grief

American experimental band’s new one is being dubbed their most abrasive album to date. ‘Pahrump’


Daisy Jones & The Six – Aurora

Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel Daisy Jones and the Six has been turned into an Amazon Prime TV show and an actual album from the fictional band that features songwriting contributions from Phoebe Bridgers, Jackson Browne, Marcus Mumford and more.


Steve Mason – Brothers & Sisters

Ex-Beta Band frontman marries the personal and the political on new solo album. ‘Brixton Fish Fry’


Sabrina Bellaouel – Al Hadr

French-Algerian producer’s debut album moves between R&B, neo-soul and club dynamics. I have featured a few tracks.


Skott – Roses N Guns

Swedish indie singer-songwriter’s second album. Title track.


JAWNY – It’s Never Fair, Always True

American indie rock artist on Interscope whose debut album features Beck. ‘Take It Back’


Adi Oasis – Lotus Glow

French-Caribbean funk R&B singer and bass player. ‘Multiply’


Kate NV – WOW

Kate NV third album released with NYC’s RVNG Intl., using a sample pack of instruments from Philadelphia’s public schools and more to create a fizzy bouncy soundtrack to rival a Japanese video game. ‘Oni (they)’


Natalia Beylis & Eimear Reidy – She Came Through the Window to Stand by the Door

Recorded at St Georges Church, Carrick On Shannon, Leitrim on a cold early January with a William Telford Organ. Built in 1846, it is reputed to be the second oldest organ in Ireland. Bandcamp.


Ella Vos – Superglue

Los Angeles pop artist Ella Vos recently collaborated with Tei Shi on the salt-rimmed pop song with strong melodies ‘Salty’.


The Veils – .​.​.​And Out Of The Void Came Love

English/New Zealand indie rock band release their first album in seven years. ‘Time’

George Feely – Don Johnson EP

Four track collaboration of upbeat g-tech electronic party jams.


Fatima Al Qadiri – Gumar EP

Kuwaiti musician with a penchant for conceptual electronic music on Hyperdub.


Simon Mós – Galaxy / Aftersun EP

London producer Simon Mós, featured here recently with the first rack on the EP ‘Galaxy’, which leans into a modular synth and voice sample percussive workout. Bandcamp.


Strapontin & Zillas on Acid – Acid Straps Vol. 2 EP
