Rosie Carney lifts the fog of depression and anorexia on new song ‘Awake Me’
The Donegal singer-songwriter Rosie Carney is back on her own path.
Carney recently wrote about her mental health experiences with depression and anorexia on her site, exacerbated by sexual assaults and bullying. It’s a brave thing to share for anyone and very much worth a read. She writes of feeling different, desperation, of being dropped by her record label, of anxiety, hitting rock bottom, and finally getting the help she needed.
Now 19-years-old, Carney’s new song ‘Awake Me’ is informed by her life. “I’ve been a fool for more than half of my life / I’ve tried to hide” she sings and after knowing her story, those words resonante with a large impact.
