Sea Sessions Festival: 12 recommended bands (in association with Vodafone Centre Stage)
Saturday
Le Galaxie
What’s left to be said for the best party-starting live act in the country? Bangers from their second album Le Club have lit up Electric Picnic and beyond in recent years and their high-octane electronic synthesizer-lead rave tracks with cowbell and beats hits harder than many bands of a heavier disposition.
Jape
Richie Egan continued to solidify his status as a national treasure (even if he moved to Sweden a few years ago) with the release of his fifth album This Chemical Sea this year.
Krystal Klear
Manchester-based Dublin DJ Krystal Klear has broken out of his disco mode for some tough house and techno dancefloor weapons on his own label Cold Tonic recently. The Academic
Last year, The Academic were a promising Mullingar indie band who could do well. Now, with the release of ‘Different’ the guys are firmly on the map in the UK and Ireland thanks to radio play of the single. So much so that they support The Strokes and Beck in London next month.
DJ Food
Strictly Kev is a long-standing legendary DJ and contributor to Ninja Tune’s influential Solid Steel radio show and in his other life, he makes music for DJs and dancing. An original vinyl DJ with 25 years experience.
Columbia Mills
This new Dublin band throwback to 90s gems like Primal Scream and 80s sonic rock, Columbia Mills are named after a building on the quays that used to host raves. Expect tunes that skyscrape the past like ‘Never Gonna Look At You The Same’:
