1.

Daithí

Ferry2Aran

After a recent foray into Italo-inspired dance music, the Clare producer Daithí’s latest takes in inspiration further east to Japanese city pop music with inspiration derived from three very different journeys.

“Ferry2Aran is inspired by three distinct journeys I’ve taken in recent years: a playful pirate-ship cruise across Japan’s Lake Ashi in Hakone’s mist-shrouded mountains, an unexpected inflatable bouncy castle floating on a lake near Les Bariousses in Treignac, France, and the blustery sea foam of the ferry crossing from Doolin to Inis Mór—just a short hop from my current home. It’s an ode to the transformative power of travel.”

Daithí’s new album is to be released 26th September 2025.

2.

Better Living

A Love Always Wins

A London Irish band with members of NewDad (Fiachra Parslow on drums), Ethan Begley Hughes aka producer Glimmerman, Josh Rosney on bass and Rachel Trench on violin.

The two tracks they have so far are instrumental reflective shoegaze tracks and in the case of the standout ‘A Love Always Wins’ birdsong. A more overt MBV sound on the flip ‘Fiadh’.

Discovered via Eoin Murray’s Anois Os Ard Substack today.

3.

SX2, Andy Phelan

Leave Them Behin

Waterford dance brothers SX2’s latest track on Disco Halal, is a bright synth buzzsaw chugger with vocals from Andy Phelan.

Like Red Axes crossed with Tame Impala psychedelia.

4.

Emma Noodles

Forever

Those of us seeking some more CMAT-style bright pop songwriting that doesn’t pander to the radio gods and has a classic feel, then look no further than Kildare singer-songwriter Emma Noodles’ newest track ‘Forever’ (the artist has a song called ‘Space Cowboy’ and all)

Emma says the song is “about the kind of love that makes you want to stop searching and settle down. It feels like a promise.”

“This song is about my first experience of love” Emma said. “It’s about that feeling of knowing, right away, that you don’t want to go back to life before this person. In the chorus, I sing, ‘If you take my hand, I could show you land that you’ve never seen before’ because when you love someone that much, you want to bring them to the places that shaped you, let them be part of your world.”

5.

Same D4ENCE

Back In The Booth

Limerick rap trio Size, Hazey Haze and MCB dropped a new Affilation EP five-tracker last week, and it kicks off with this woozy sinogrime-leaning city nights cut.

. Performing with 4th member (DJ) DShii

Worked with producers MynameisjOhn & Naive Ted on ‘Basic Instinct’,

6.

The Number Ones

Sorry

The return of Dublin power punk pop band The Number Ones with a pretty little singalong ditty that feels sorry for itself, and apologises for taking up space.

It’s the band’s first song in SEVEN YEARS, and they reference the Buzzcocks in 1979, the Good Vibrations label and Rip Off Records releases.

The Number Ones are Conor Lumdsen, Sean Goucher, Eddie Kenrick and new bassist Pete O’Hanlon.
