The new music weekly mixtape
This week’s selection is recent new music highlights as I never made one last week due to being at The Great Escape. So here is a mixtape of the best tracks since the last one of these taking in the Newcastle folk singer Jack Houlsby, new artists in the intense but brilliant Anna B Savage, new Domino signing LA Priest, Matador’s Haelos, Polish dude Oliver Heim, Niwel Tsumbu and friends as RiZA, Liverpool’s Johnny Sands sounding like Ben Howard, the Def Jam-signed Alessia Cara flipping Portishead/Isaac Hayes sample, and soon to be Dublin residents Overcoats.
There are returning songs from Active Child‘s new album Mercy, R&B singer Billie Black, and Jamie xx.
There’s also a section marked ‘banging’ featuring analogue electronics from Boot & Tax, acid vibes from Stellar Om Source, psychedelic AFX style on Beats In Space from Palmbomen II with a track named after a minor X-Files character and house vibes from Jack J.
It might be a special weekend….
