According to messages and tweets on The Pavilion’s social media accounts, the Cork venue closed over the weekend.
Thanks for all the good times. To our brilliant staff, all the bands, djs and of course you. We know you loved the place as much as we did!

It’s a terrible loss for Cork’s music scene and offerings and for the staff of the venue who are among the nicest in the business.

Niall Byrne is the founder of the most-influential Irish music site Nialler9, where he has been writing about music since 2005 . He is the co-host of the Nialler9 Podcast and has written for the Irish Times, Irish Independent, Cara Magazine, Sunday Times, Totally Dublin, Red Bull and more. Niall is a DJ, founder of Lumo Club, club promoter, event curator and producer of gigs, listening parties & events in Dublin.
The most attractive venue in the city, with great sound – shame!
Probably run into the ground by Ireland’s damaging licensing laws, which are even stricter in Cork. Sad news, but even sadder is that I don’t see that situation changing for the better any time soon 🙁
