These venues & festivals were voted the best in the country last night at the IMRO Awards

The (IMRO) Live Venue of the Year Awards once again took place last night in Dublin at Number Twenty Two in the city.

Alex Gough, Elm and Soda Blonde played live & Mona Lxsa was on DJ duties and the winners were picked from votes from 13,500+ IMRO members from the shortlist.

The National Live Music Venue of the Year 2019 accolade was awarded to Coughlan’s Live Bar and Music Venue, Cork, a small upstairs room above the bar in Cork City.

Other winners in the categories include

Dublin – Vicar Street

Rest of Leinster –Kavanagh’s Bar & Venue Portlaoise, Co. Laois

Connacht – Róisín Dubh, Galway

Munster – Mike The Pies, Listowel, Co. Kerry

Ulster – Íontas Theatre, Castleblayney Co. Monaghan

IMRO Music Festival of the Year – Electric Picnic

IMRO Small Music Festival –  Sounds from a Safe Harbour 

 IMRO Tech Crew of the Year – Sea Sessions 

The IMRO Outstanding Contribution to Live Music accolade was awarded this year to Angela Dorgan, of First Music Contact who has worked tirelessly on championing Irish music both here and abroad at festivals like Irish Music Week, SXSW, Eurosonic and many many more.

Hot Press Editor Niall Stokesalso gave special commendations, presenting awards to Róisín Dubh and Mike The Pies and the Hot Press Live Music Venue of the Year for 2019 to 3Arena.
