Sigur Ros confirmed that they are indeed mono-syllabic humourless Icelandic entities when they appeared on NPR’s The Bryant Park Project radio show last week. Watch them say mumble, look bored and not answer questions! And the interviewer went to so much effort to pronounce their names! Here for your cringe-worthy pleasure is the interview in question:

OMG, That was just awful. That poor interviewer. Don’t agree to do the interview guys if you’re going to behave like s**theads! Honestly, if they’re like that with a dedent interviewer, can you imagine them on the Late Late with the plank?
This is hilarious.
Thanks for posting.
I think my favourite part is where he explains Hopelandic.
In fairness, they were being asked some numbingly boring and stupid questions.
They come across much better in this month’s Observer Music Mag, getting wrecked on champagne and dancing around to YMCA. I’m sure it’s tough to ‘slap on a fake smile, and run through the same old shit one more time’, as Mr B Hicks once said.

Ah they’re the bog standard questions that have been asked and are still asked by journo’s everywhere. Most interview questions are piles of cack, but it’s absolutely no excuse to come on and behave like complete arseholes for 5 minutes. Maybe they were tired or had their thoughs elsewhere. painful and hilarious viewing though!
Jesus, that’s horrible. There is nothing more awful in the world than interviewing people who don’t want to be interviewed.
I once interviewed one of Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club and he just went “aahhhyyynnnnnbblluuugghhhh” down the phone for 15 minutes. No joke.
In fairness if I was asked all those stupid questions I’d be bored and listless as well. The Observer Music interview of them is what a great interview should be like, not this cack.
My point exactly Gambra!
OMM painted Sigur Ros in a different light, showing the human side to the band, who were more comfortable on their own turf, and so less guarded. For all we know, EMI could have herded the band straight into this interview after a long flight, or it could’ve been the 10th one of these boring interviews they had to endure that day. This kind of thing is no fun for the band or interviewer.
Jeez, i sound like i work in the Sigur Ros PR department!
I still think they were kranky, awkward bitches, but i can understand why that may be.

fair enough, good point, this could well have happened. but on the other hand Sigur Ros have a contract – they are paid artists; this is their job!! they should expect this kind of shite sometimes and be able to handle it gracefully like most other artists can!
Those dudes are pretty bad ass.
I agree with you Mike, mentioning the EMI/flight/press schedule was a way of explaning rather than excusing their behaviour. Yes, they are professionals in a very priveleged position, and should be able to conduct themselves in a graceful manner like most artists. This example of immature/stubborn behaviour is quite expreme and probably a seldom occurance.
‘painful and hilarious viewing!’, more of the same please!
Cheers for the clip Nialler!
