Friday is release day and here’s the first things that caught my ear while listening to new songs out. See this week’s album release post for long-players.
See the New Music section for individual posts on tracks.
Clipping. – ‘say the name’
Clipping follow up the dark and dystopian album There Existed An Addication To Blood with more foreboding rap. New album Visions of Bodies Being Burned is out on October 23rd on Sub Pop.
Dua Lipa – ‘Break My Heart’ (Moodymann remix)
Dua Lipa’s Club Future Nostalgia‘s remix album by The Blessed Madonna is out today and other than featuring some of the names at the forefront of dance music like Yaeji, Jayda G, Mr Fingers, Horse Meat Disco, Midland and more, the DJ mix approach of the record gives it another angle with well-known tracks like ‘Buffalo Stance’, ‘Percolator’, Stevie Nicks’ ‘Stand Back’ and Jamiroquai’s ‘Cosmic Girl’ mixed in among proceedings. Madonna, Missy Elliott and Gwen Stefano also pop up.
As with most remix albums, it’s a mixed affair but really enjoying the Moodymann remix of ‘Break My Heart’
Roisin Murphy – ‘Something More’ (Crooked Man Light mix)
As part of a four-track remix packages, featuring light, dark, dirty and dub versions of the original.
Girl Band – ‘Shoulderblades’ (live from Vicar Street)
Yes please.
Autumns – ‘Alex, Can you Take the Bass Out?’
Just do it Alex. Derry electronic producer Christian Donaghey rips it up on a track from new EP You Are Now Listening To Autumns on Opal Tapes.
Fat Pablo – ‘Woke Up Late’
Dublin band Fat Pablo release their final EP today.
FKA Twigs – ‘Sad Day’
Not a new song but a new video with FKA Twigs showing off her sword skills. Directed by Hiro Murai.
Angel Olsen – ‘(We Are All Mirrors)’
