Katie Laffan changes tack with the affecting ‘Trophy’
It takes time to build and Katie Laffan is taking the time she needs. At just twenty years of age, the Dubliner has shone in the spotlight for a few years already but the sense that the musician is still on her way is still there.
Last years debut EP showcased a funky indie pop sound with plenty of shade and sark.
New song ‘Trophy’ is a change of tack. The single out October 7th is a warning to poor treatment, to a friend who can do better. It’s slower than previous work and it grows with a synth-pop brooding intensity without losing sight of the pop in her sound.
She plays Canalaphonic tonight in The Bernard Shaw.
