EMBY, Charlie Boy Manson, Sputnik One
E’s Up
Manchester/Belfast MC EMBY and Manchester newcomer Charlie Boy Manson spitting on a wavey beat from Dublin-based producer Sputnik One beat on his label N-Face.
Henry Earnest
Marie
Somnambulist ambient pop from Henry Earnest, which features harp from Róisín Berkeley and pedal steel by more eaze.
Calmea
See What Was Shown
The Irish-based Portugese singer Eunice Saraiva, who is also the singer with Of All Living Things, has released a debut solo record of ambient folk, recorded and produced by Ber Quinn, called Por enquanto não vou ao mar.
Track two on the record is this pretty piano, guitar and vocal track ‘See What Was Shown’.
Dream Boy
Take Whatever
‘Take Whatever’ is the second single from from Dublin band Dream Boy, a confident shoegazey alt rock number.
“Take whatever represents the overwhelming loneliness felt within a relationship. The group’s far from silent performance shows the feeling of being silent and allowing someone to take over your life, leaving little room for your own personality and sense of self.”
Wastefellow
Haunt You Back
Diolmhain Ingram Roche is more recognisably active as the singer in the band Really Good Time of late, but he started out as the electronic producer Wastefellow, a project he returns to for the first release on the Patrúin label in four years.
‘Haunt You Back’ is the finest of the three tracks on the release, a bass and breaks fizzy production.
There’s also a fine long sleeve tee with funds going to Medical Aid for Palestinians and designed by Mel Keane.
The Kyd G, GNS, $ona Blu€, Duckyprod
Pisces
The Blanchardstown artist The Kyd G and his pals GNS, $ONA BLU€ and DuckyProd put out a collaborative mixtape last week called Pink Slips.
Drawing from rap, R&B and alternative soul, ‘Pisces’ features all of the cast working up a soulful sweet astrologically-charged track.
Toby Kaar
Be Good
Cork producer Toby Kaar recently released a long-awaited long player called That Was Then, returning to the folktronica of his early releases, with jazz and ambient influences detected throughout.
‘Conceiving Two’ was the recent lead off, and ‘Be Good’ is another fine track from the record, with distant echoey strings and brass leading the track’s textured percussion.
Birthday Problem, Julie Hawk
Same Face
Birthday Problem is a collaborative electronic project between Matt Harris of Havvk and producer Rocky O’Reilly (Oppenheimer).
Their fifth single is a woozy moody crystalline track featuring spoken word from HAVVK’s Julie Hawk that modulates as the song proceeds.
I previously featured ‘An Maighdean Mara’ with vocals from former Mhaol vocalist Róisín Nic Ghearailt
lxverboy
ross geller
Dublin-based electronic producer lxverboy’s debut album xo collects four years of music informed from her time spent producing as part of the duo LEWWAB.
This chosen track from the record, possibly echoes the Friends character’s penchant for keyboard SFX sounds, except this retro synth-electro number is. no laughing matter.
lxverboy launches this album with a full live band (drums, guitar, tech & trumpet) the at Workman’s Club on Wednesday 14th August. Support from indie artist Sophie Moon & DJ set by LEWWAB too.
