Watch Elaine Mai’s evocative video for ‘Somewhere Else’, a song about not belonging
Elaine Mai released a new song this past Friday called ‘Somewhere Else’, an emotive song about not feeling like you belong but feeling some sense of uplift and positivity to come in the future.
The accompanying video underscores that feeling with the two protagonists finding solace listening and dancing to music on her headphones, something i’m sure we can all relate to.
Says Elaine:
‘This song is about that feeling of not belonging and everything that comes with that. I think most of us have felt that way at some point, especially growing up. For me, this song captures that sadness and uncertainty, but there’s also a feeling of hope in it, a feeling that things are going to get better.’
‘When it came to getting visuals for the track, I reached out to Lia Lieghio of HearOne, who I met at Keychange earlier this year. During lockdown, Lia and her team offered to help artists create visuals for their music. I briefed her on the track and the direction I wanted to go in, and I’m so happy with what she created.’
HearOne is a new music platform and management company who offer a package for artists who need visuals for their music. One Productions, a video production company with 20 years experience backs the music platform helping artists create professional music videos for a fraction of the price. Working with the artists and the story around the song, HearOne sources beautiful visuals to suit all styles and stories.
