Yesterday, NAO was announced for Dublin’s Forbidden Fruit Festival and today, the singer has dropped a remix companion EP to last year’s debut album For All We Know.
Featuring 5 reworks of songs from the album, it includes a dancehall, Autotuned version of ‘In The Morning’ from Mura Masa, A Stormzy feature on the Loxe remix of ‘Feels Like’, a Sam Gellaitry remix of ‘DYWM’, SBTRKT’s subdued low-end ‘Bad Blood’ rework, and as is often the case with these things, a standout bumping remix from Kaytranada that channels those ‘Cranes In The Sky’ for a new vibe on ‘Get To Know Ya’.
The Nialler9 radio show airs live every Thursday night from 10pm to Midnight on 105.2FM TXFM. TXFM will close some time this year but the show continues until further notice. Like this website, it’s a new music show featuring myself presenting my favourite tunes.
The first Nialler9 show of 2015 was broadcast last Thursday at 10pm on TXFM. The two hour show leaned forward and featured some of the best new music coming out in the first months of the new year: from All We Are to Emmy The Great; Laura Marling to Jape, Marina & The Diamonds to Lapsley, Dan Deacon to Panda Bear. HAve a listen below.
The Nialler9 TXFM show airs every Thursday night at 10pm for two hours. Tune back in Christmas Day and New Year’s Day at 10pm for my songs of the year specials.
With every release Joe Goddard shows he has the smarts but thus far, his project with Raf Rundell was either great or a bit cheesy as it hopped from genre to genre in search of something elusive. But the new single ‘Not This Time’, from the second album The Night Is Young, out October 13th is some considerable, repeatable pop smarts. The pair are also playing Playing Opium Rooms on Sunday November 1st.

Sampha, Caroline Polachek, Koreless, Raury, A$AP Ferg, Jessie Ware, Denai Moore and Ezra Koening and Warpaint.
That’s the guest lineup for SBTRKT’s new album Wonder Where We Land, out September 19th. As it happens we’ve already heard the first song ‘Temporary View’ but this funny little ditty ‘New Dorp. New York’ featuring Ezra Koening also appears and shows a different side to Jerome, which references Ballroom Blitz’s ‘Sweet’ and features pitch-shifted vocals with references to New York city landmarks.
Andrew Ashong is also on the deluxe version of the album.
‘Simple Life’, is as bare as they come, a piano-lead striking ballad with Niia’s jazz vocals yearning for something else as she “makes her lovers used the back door when they leave.” It’s an effective showcase of a new talent years in the making.
2. Todd Terje – ‘Oh Joy’
Probably the only banger we hadn’t heard from his debut and album of the week, It’s Album Time.
But her voice is one that deserves its own place and ‘Stars’ her debut single produced by Redlight is a great first spotlight, a slice of live-wire club soul with twisted vocals with nods to dubstep rhythm. It’s released on Toddla T’s label, Girls Music and Ninja Tune.
Highlights: Bodytonic’s Beatyard Weekender, SBTRKT, Solar Bears with Letherette and SertOne, Yacht, Alabama Shakes, Matthew Dear, Kuedo, James Pants, Lapalux, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis; Last Days of 1984, Cian Nugent…
