The top 10 tracks of the week
1. Tvvins – ‘You Better’
Tvvin’s first proper single continues the vocodered-rock they introduced us to that vein with a more-stomping direct track that featuring treated vocals, a more conventional rock arrangement and imbues it with some interplanetary electro sounds. They also gave us a cool video for the song.
2. Banks – ‘Brain’
Banks just keep getting more vital. This is her Shlohmo-produced new single and it’s big.
3. Arthur Beatrice – ‘Midland’
A joyous indie-pop thrill with a big chorus from the site’s new artist of the week.
4. Warpaint – ‘Keep It Healthy’
Current favourite track from my album of the week.
3. Tensnake – ‘Love Sublime’ ft. Nile Rodgers & Fiora
Deep disco house with a pop centre. Bonus Nile Rodgers points.
6. Akouo – ‘Last Time’
A track with a Flume-esque bounce from a Tasmanian producer.
7. Adultrock – ‘Clear’
Hazy and hypnotic Blondes-esque free download from the Kildare producer who has an EP coming in March on Bodytonic.
8. SOAK – ‘Blud’
The first properly-recorded single from the Derry singer Bridie Monds-Watson on Chvrches’ new label.
9. Kinds – ‘Breathe’
Soulful R&B electronica from a Cornwall duo. Not bad for their first track.
10. Mykki Blanco -‘She Gutta’
Cold low-end heavy aggro track from the NYC trans rapper.
